Into Sweden

Up nice and early due to a rabble of young girls running around campsite at 5am, dozed a little longer and up and about at 6.30.
Had a crap nights sleep as I found that my self inflating bed mat liked inflating that much that it developed a slow leak meaning that it kept de-flating just for the experience of being re-inflated. Well it did come from a car boot so I only have myself to blame I suppose. Will have to fork out for another one when I find a camping shop.
tried to leave the campsite at 8.15am only to find that reception did not open till 9am and I had to call in to get my deposit back on the shower room key, all of 10 euro's but that is nearly £10.00.
Finally managed to get going and within minutes it was pouring with rain. The spray was terrible and it was all i could do to see out of my visor. Traffic was moving very quick and it was safer to travel with the flow which was about 140kph, far too fast in the conditions but I was worried about being hit in the rear, so to speak.
Crossed from Germany into Denmark by ferry, a 45 minute journey that cost me 52 euro, steep or what, anyhow next stop was Copenhagen where I followed the GPS to the little mermaid, just like driving into London to see the eye but at least it was now dry.
Left Denmark by way of a tunnel and a HUGE bridge that took me into Sweden, that cost me a further 22 euro, its been all pay out today.
I travelled nearly 600km today and have pitched up for the night at a camp site (found via GPS) right next to a lake. The mozzies are out in force though but I have managed to buy some repellant as like an idiot, I left mine at home in the bag I use for marshalling. The camp site is near Almhult should you wish to see where I am.
Having mega problems with Skype, have not managed to use it yet so I dread what my phone bill will be when I get home, Oh well.
Right , its now time for a well earned beer before turning in, hope to be a bit nearer Stockholm tomorrow night.

  1. Hi Nick, Good to hear from you just now on Skype (which rhymes with Tripe) now that you have found a way through. I hope you get some kip tonight and enjoy the goulash. You sound more like Mondo Enduro every day. You will be sleeping in old buildings and eating meals made up of slugs and dandelions soon. I have looked up Swedish for launderette and it is TVATTSTUGA - easy eh? Stay safe and have a good ride to Stockholm tomorrow. Missing you and thanks for leaving me all the ironing! God Bless, lotsa love to you and Jed, Chrissie xxxxx
